If you would like to change your practising certificate type from 1 July 2024, complete the renewal process and upload the additional required documentation via the portal.
Below is a list of current practising certificate types, and the action required to change them to your new practising certificate type.
Your new practising certificate will not be issued until:
• you have completed your online renewal application form
• the Society has received and processed prescribed payments, and
• the Society has received and processed the supporting documentation for the change.

Employee practising certificate
To:
- remove a supervision restriction. If you have completed the required period of supervised practice, complete and upload a statutory declaration via the portal so an unrestricted practising certificate can be issued to you. While completing your practising certificate renewal online, select option 'Renew current PC and remove my supervision condition'.
- change to a volunteer practising certificate. If you wish to practise as a volunteer and have not sent previous notice, please submit written advice by emailing records@qls.com.au. While completing your practising certificate renewal online, select the option 'Change to volunteer PC'.
- upgrade to a principal practising certificate. You must complete and upload via the portal an application to upgrade your practising certificate. While completing your practising certificate renewal online, select the option 'Upgrade to principal PC'.
- not renew your practising certificate. Let us know you are not renewing your practising certificate by clicking on the Not renewing button on the renewal notification on your myQLS. You may still be eligible to be an associate member of QLS.
Volunteer practising certificate
To:
- remove a supervision restriction. If you have completed the required period of supervised practice, complete and upload a statutory declaration via the portal so an unrestricted practising certificate can be issued to you. Interstate practising certificate
- if you wish to apply for a Queensland practising certificate, please complete application form and relevant information.
- if you do not wish to apply for a Queensland practising certificate please forward a copy of your interstate practising certificate to QLS via email at records@qls.com.au.
